Which, as I stated earlier, is part of my problem with the discussion of how to use the term "racism."

It's all being decided by white men. As my latest post points out, Howard Kurtz tut-tuts over Shirley Sherrod, a black woman, calling Andrew Breitbart, a white man, a racist.

Same as it ever was.Rmjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06811456254443706479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9479398.post-48401018829001719982010-07-26T09:39:18.953-05:002010-07-26T09:39:18.953-05:00BTW, I am curious about something. I, for one, happen to be white, middle class, etc. (although my wife happens to be African-American and our daughter's biological father is Afro-Hispanic).

Not to be nosy or racially labeling myself, but is this conversation about race and class, even here, still being had by white, middle class folks like myself?alberichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03852752646926946626noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9479398.post-90194585662510700122010-07-26T07:01:23.728-05:002010-07-26T07:01:23.728-05:00Yup. And he wasn't preaching about a "dream."

He was advocating fair pay for garbage collectors.Rmjhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06811456254443706479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9479398.post-82467564962972651752010-07-25T12:41:24.355-05:002010-07-25T12:41:24.355-05:00Speaking of King (as well as Herbert's comment...Speaking of King (as well as Herbert's comments), I wonder how many people remember the speech "Our God is Marching On"? I wonder how many remember the line "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice" and what follows it?

On the other hand, how many people know the context of that famous line? How many people know what that speech was actually about and what King's (well, King credits C. Vann Woodward) point was?DAShttp://alberich10.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9479398.post-39383350280482467982010-07-25T11:53:06.832-05:002010-07-25T11:53:06.832-05:00I vaguely recall that King fella addressed economi...I vaguely recall that King fella addressed economic issues, too. Look where it got him.

Never cared much for John Edwards personally, even before the fact. But his introduction of economics in a context other than the wonders of free markets, flat worlds and hundreds of trillions of dollars in derivatives was most welcome, and too rare. And his subsequent course buried the matter.

All his fault, too.
