Trump Is Getting TERRIBLE Legal Advice

The states are “agents” of the federal government for federal election purposes and “must do” what the President tells them to? That’s going to come as a surprise to the Roberts Court, who ruled in Shelby v Holder that even Congress didn’t have the authority to enforce the 15th Amendment the way they wanted to.

What does Trump plan (I know; wrong verb to apply to Trump) if the states don’t conform to his order? Invalidate their elections? Throw the membership of the entire House and 1/3rd of the Senate into chaos? (No, he couldn’t if he wanted to. Though it might move the GOP down the line on impeachment, and removal this time.).

I suppose Greg Abbott could call another special session to rewrite the Texas Election Code. He’d probably do it. But I think the other 49 would tell Trump to pound sand. (Although I would like to see Ken Paxton and John Cornyn campaign on who’s going to make voting in Texas MORE inconvenient and complicated, just to please Trump.)

And eliminate voting machines in favor of paper ballots? I could see Abbott canceling mail-in voting (he’s already made it so inconvenient I stopped using it, and I’m automatically entitled to it). But beyond that? Not a chance.

I suppose Trump could send the FBI and the National Guard to polling places, and try to arrest state and local officials in charge of elections.  Which puts us right back at membership of Congress in chaos as elections grind to a halt.

But at least we’re not talking about Russia, or the Epstein files, huh?

  1. I suspect that whatever bad legal advice he's getting will be adjusted for him by the Roberts Court. They're just making it up to order for the stupidest, most criminal, corrupt and vulgar president in our history. Amazing that they had to go to the big Ivy law schools to come up with the lame excuses they are for doing that. I suspect they'll stop bothering to do even that in this upcoming term.
