Tell Me You’ve Never Been To A State Fair…

...yadda yadda yadda... I’m pretty sure what Trump knows about state fairs he learned from a movie. Or maybe he just doesn’t know shit about them.

  1. Deliberate ignorance must be part of the "power of positive thinking". It kind of makes sense... if you know why something can't/shouldn't be done it might interfere with your ability to do it.

  2. The “power of positive thinking” is the power to be deliberately ignorant so you can be “positive.” I really think it’s sort of baked in.

  3. It never occurred to me before seeing this post but I've never been to a state fair, I thought we didn't have them, at least in the two New England states I've gone to fairs in. But it turns out that for some reason or other the Skowhegan fair is called the Skowhegan State Fair, which I'd bet is news to most people in the state. From the pictures and footage I've seen of this thing in DC, I'd rather go to the Acton Fair and the last time I was there it was about the dumpiest, dirtiest fair grounds I've ever seen. And I went to the Rochester Fair, too, so that's saying something. I'd probably go to the Oxford Fair which, I guess might be considered a county fair and I'd go to the Common Ground Fair which is excellent, no midway, it's a real agricultural fair put on by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardners Association. I think they've relented on the previous, decades long ban on vendors serving coffee, though the last time I went, before they moved to their new grounds which are too far away for me to get to, they hadn't, You had to BYOC.

  4. I went to the Texas State Fair for the third (?) time a few years ago. My family moved from Dallas when I was five, so the Fairgrounds (in Dallas) were familiar grounds. Family story is my grandfather cooked hamburgers there for the church , back when state fairs had such private concerns. I went to the East Texas Fair in my childhood, because it was in my hometown.

I don’t even want to visit D.C. until Trump is gone and everything he’s touched is cleansed and restored.
