In the past ten years theoretical physics has gotten entirely out of hand with its 10^500 unobservable, unseen universes, dark matter and energy created to balance equations, strings, membranes, etc. It's far worse than when they invented the aether and phlogiston. But Boltzmann brains were the end of it for me. When Sean Carroll etc. start talking about gigantic incorporeal "brains" created out of fluctuations of probability that just might fill up the entire universe, things have gotten entirely out of hand. <br /><br />I'm going to consider chemistry as the hardest of sciences.
