I don't t...A cultural thing we've noticed:<br /><br />I don't think we're data collecting, but we always remark that when we go with the kids to an Asian restaurant of any stripe, the hosts/staff/et al are so doting on our kids. Contrast to American-ish establishments where we've literally had a server say she "got stuck with the table with kids" to our faces.<br /><br />I don't doubt that kids can be disruptive. At a fancy restaurant, I think that would be inappropriate (to bring them in the first place). At a fucking diner? And rather than engaging with the family and seeking a solution, you yell at a <2yo?<br /><br />Most of the comment threads I've seen people have sided with the owner, as you note with the "control your kids" type of admonishment. I found that disheartening before we had a family. Now I find it cruel.<br /><br />The owner said "hey, it stopped, which is generally a good thing!"
