I was going to leave this in comments, but I just can't. I'm afraid it will get lost there, and having generated more heat than light, I feel obligated to generate even a little light this morning.
This current offering from Anglicans Online is worth reading and meditating on. It especially underlines my discomfort with the advertising campaign of the United Church of Christ ("'We're the brand that is as inclusive as Jesus was'"), which is one of the problems of "marketing" a church as if it were a service provider.
But then, my concern for the contradictions of the institution and the individual are from everlasting to everlasting, and always find new modes of expression, so that's a topic for yet another day.
