On Aug. 1, 2016—the 50th anniversary of the Charles Whitman UT Tower shooting—Senate Bill 11 will go into effect, making it legal for concealed handgun licensees to pack heat on Texas campuses.
Yeah, we changed that law because, you know, freedumb. That shooting on the campus in Tomball is the last one in Texas on a college campus that I know of. The shooter wasn't supposed to have a gun on campus then (whether he can now is an open question my college system is struggling with, too). He opened fire in a fight with another student, and hit several other people except the student, standing in front of him, whom he was aiming at.
Or supposedly aiming at.
Yeah, one thing led to another; and yeah, I got a real good feeling about this.
A little too ironic, don't you think?
