A Very Wes Anderson Christmas
Because it is Advent, and because I can.*
*Only it isn't a TRUE Wes Anderson film, because no dogs are killed. You can't have everything.
I love Wes Anderson the way I love Stanley Kubrick: his style is so distinctive.
As for the dogs, it's always off-stage, and seems to be a running joke about never harming animals or children. It's a bit grim (granted), but I never take it as being a strong anti-canine statement. More like something he started and now it's a signature move, among many signature moves.
It was something I couldn't take my eyes off of, it is visually original, maybe a touch of Thomas Hopper, realism plus. Very good, I could even take the mopheads song, which I really can't stand for much longer than it lasts in this.
Oh, I love cats too, have two of them living with me. I've seldom met an animal I didn't like. Well apart from my sister's stinky ferret that bit me in the ankle. Her hairdresser's boyfriend said that either it went or he did and she gifted my sister. She claimed it bit me because I wear sneakers and it had a thing about rubber.
I like it except the short sleeves seem out of place. Well, there's the song at the end too. I will be sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know anything about him, after reading about what happens to dogs in his movies I don't think I'll be seeing any others.

But YMMV, of course.
I love dogs. I really love dogs.

I'll admit if it was cats instead of dogs I'd have a harder time overlooking it. Only because I slightly prefer cats to dogs; but only slightly.
