No Mr Trump, Middle East peace is very difficult because 1 side refuses to say the other side has a right to exist. https://t.co/aS17DFBLDC— Joe Walsh (@WalshFreedom) May 3, 2017
It is not lost on me that this critique is tweeted by a guy who thinks
Dog whistle? What dog whistle?*
President Trump, adapting to realities:
“We want to create peace between Israel and the Palestinians,” Trump said during a joint statement with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. “We will get it done. We will be working so hard to get it done. It’s been a long time, but we will be working diligently.”You'll have to follow that second link to get the context of the phrase. You'll have to listen to the video. Go on, it's worth it. I've decided to adopt it as my own. It provides a thesis for addressing what Trump is up to now, and how it is understood.
“I think there’s a very, very good chance you and I think you feel the same way,” he added, addressing Abbas directly.
Trump said he is “committed to working with Israel and the Palestinians to reach an agreement.”
“I will do whatever is necessary to facilitate the agreement, to mediate, to arbitrate, anything they’d like to do,” Trump said. “But I would love to be a mediator or an arbitrator or a facilitator and we will get this done.”
Because this guy is so disconnected from reality it isn't funny.
*and no, that's not the problem in the Middle East either. Then again, even the Daily Wire thinks Trump sounds like an idiot. And all of this indicates how intractable the issues are, and not only in the countries concerned. Everybody thinks they know what the real problem is, and it's always the other guy. But hey, if Trump can't do it, maybe we can resurrect Monty Hall, right?
