Advent 2017: December 12
64:1 O that you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at your presence--
64:2 as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil-- to make your name known to your adversaries, so that the nations might tremble at your presence!
64:3 When you did awesome deeds that we did not expect, you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence.
Isaiah 64:1-3 (actual lectionary reading (partial) for Second Sunday of Advent this year).
Or get Doug Jones elected to the Senate from Alabama. That would work, too.
Wow, I didn't have any idea how much tension had built up in me over that Senate race, I'd tried to write about it and couldn't.
ReplyDeleteA narrow escape but one, nonetheless. Now to work on widening the margin of safety between us and disaster.
It would be fun if as unexpected a place as Alabama might be considered the pivot back to decency in American politics, the stone rejected, etc.
I actually thought of the passage from Isaiah, then went looking for a picture to go with it. That's how I found it was the lectionary reading for the second Sunday of Advent for this year.
ReplyDeleteCoincidence? I think not....;-)
