NIELSEN says that "so far this year" three children have died in CBP custody. She says she hasn't spoken with the affected families. pic.twitter.com/7ktpSEGFWR— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) March 6, 2019
Something so safely anodyne about a "detention space," isn't there? So much nicer than "cages."
And 3 deaths of children this year? 1 per month, on average? And this is not a public outrage because brown people, or something? Or is it because Sec. Nielsen said "cages"? Because that seems to be the outrage du jour among the commentariat; that chain link doesn't create a cage, rather than children have died in our custody. Cages are on the government, but deaths in custody are on all of us.
And that should outrage us.
And that should outrage us.
