Example ๐ฏ+ of why it’s difficult to work for Trump, a boss who will undermine even his most loyal staff w regularity... https://t.co/fEypF4gSOK— Ashley Parker (@AshleyRParker) August 15, 2019
Not just his staff:
Israel has been banning critics, including Jewish ones, from entering Israel (& the West Bank) for years. Banning US Congress members is yet another new low as this country abandons all but the pretenses of democracy. The Trump Admin urged this but I doubt it took much work: https://t.co/93FGyJ9ulv— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) August 15, 2019
Greenwald tries to put the blame entirely on Israel, giving Trump the benefit of the doubt ("the Trump Administration" did this, not the man himself, and really they aren't players in this game. With friends like this...). Trump, of course, removed all doubt and blame on others a little later in the morning:
It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 15, 2019
Note the time stamps.
I don't mind Greenwald getting egg on his face, but this is why ETTD. It's a rule of nature, a fact of life, a law of the known universe.
It only makes sense that @RashidaTlaib and @IlhanMN are subject to Israeli occupation treatment. When they visit, they are not US congresswomen first and foremost, but Muslims, and with a political position. https://t.co/47XL7uhVFH— Mairav Zonszein ืืจื ืืื ืฉืืื (@MairavZ) August 14, 2019
Pretty much what Trump said. And the problem is, still: they are members of Congress.
