Now @RepAdamSchiff asking to clarify and counter @DevinNunes question as to why #Yovanovitch is even here? Why isn’t this going to HR? He answers his own question by saying there is one person who though she was important: Trumps discussion about #Yovanovitch with Zelensky pic.twitter.com/Yt0iv1Xhxp— Naveed Jamali (@NaveedAJamali) November 15, 2019
Republicans found out Wednesday that attacking the witnesses did not impugn their integrity, and merely made them look the villains (yes, there was a reason for that). Now they are handling Yovanovich with kid gloves, and arguing process (when do we get to question the whistleblower?).
Steve Castor's questions sounded more like anti-Trump talking points than barbed inquiries. A Democrat just asked the witness if she's a "Never Trumper," to pull the sting from that accusation. Jordan has not been asked to do his angry auctioneer bit again (!).
I think the GOP is going to try to walk Yovanovich or use their questions to attack the Chair. Oh, and ask questions about corruption in Ukraine, which is frankly so esoteric and bizarre (FoxNews and Kellyanne Conway were sure no Americans know where Ukraine is, or care what happens there) it's unlikely to turn into useful sound-bites.
Or maybe they're just aware of this:
Quite a @WSJ homepage right now. pic.twitter.com/9O3RZUfq12— Rebecca Ballhaus (@rebeccaballhaus) November 15, 2019
They really don't know whether to shit or go blind. They just want to get out of the room.
