Sure, Jan

Funny thing about this:

1) McConnell said Friday on the Senate floor that this "trial without articles" wasn't going to happen.

2) Lindsay can't get the 2/3rds of the Senate to vote with him to change the rules.

3) The Senate rules don't change the Constitution. If the Senate holds a trial without Articles or House managers (Pelosi is not scheduling a vote on that resolution, either.), and then the House sends articles (with, predictably, new Articles) and House managers, the Senate has to hold a new trial (there would be added credibility for additional Articles under this scenario).  The 5th Amendment doesn't apply to impeachment, which is not a criminal prosecution.

And the Senate has to hold a new trial, or defy the Constitution.

So sure, Lindsay, go ahead and change the rules. What could go wrong?
