Greg Abbot has already defaulted decisions on closures to counties and cities. Does he take that power back to dance as Trump’s puppet? Not likely. And if he did, he’d have a fight on his hands from all the largest cities and counties in the state.Angry and hunkered down in the White House, an impatient Trump has helplessly watched the economy slip away - endangering his most potent reelection argument - and considers reopening much of the nation well ahead of health experts’ recommendations https://t.co/GSncknaQ52— Jonathan Lemire (@JonLemire) March 24, 2020
And New York, California, Colorado and Washington are going to tell him to pound sand. Denver just shut down, with 700 confirmed cases in a population of 500,000. Indeed, how many governors would follow Trump? Who wants to be the outlier now?
These decisions are not being made by Trump, and he can’t reverse them. The more he rails, the more impotent he will be.
It’s the best outcome possible right now.
