Well, that's where we are today, isn't it? And it's not based on partisanship or speculation:Wait...Donald Trump lying about Putin?— Rick Wilson (@TheRickWilson) April 2, 2020
What??
I am *shocked* by this development. https://t.co/qiIBiQ2BEk
That's the kind of letter you write, then stick in a drawer. What you don't do is publish it to prove what a whiny little bitch you are. This, by the way, is what Trump means by "back up":Trump sends a letter to Sen. Schumer and it is worth reading in full. pic.twitter.com/jrvFnEI8oa— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) April 2, 2020
What crystal ball tells you that you have 72 hours left before the "crisis"? And frankly, Trump's argument that the Feds are only "back up" takes us back to the era immediately after WWII:FEMA is warning states not to expect any shipments of ventilators until they are within 72 hours of a crisis.https://t.co/a9KBHS3dAX— Julie Pace (@jpaceDC) April 2, 2020
On one side are those who have upheld the Burkean ideal of replenishing civil society by adjusting to changing conditions. On the other are those committed to a revanchist counterrevolution, the restoration of America’s pre-welfare state ancien regime. And, time and again, the counterrevolutionaries have won. The result is that modern American conservatism has dedicated itself not to fortifying and replenishing civil society but rather to weakening it through a politics of civil warfare (my stress).
Herbert Hoover was the man who provided Federal aid to the South after devastating flooding of the Mississippi river, a change in governmental practice that made Hoover President and, ironically, opened the door to the New Deal.
And if you're wondering why Trump is complaining to Schumer about the impeachment trial, it's the same reason he still won't talk to the Speaker of the House (the third most important office in the Federal government, being the only legislative office specified in the Constitution):
Trump is blasting the oversight effort congress is setting up now to review the administration response to COVID. He says everyone knows it’s “ridiculous” and it only helps his poll numbers.— Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) April 2, 2020
Yeah, let's leave it with this:
