This is not entirely wrong.

Bar Association's are cartels: There to protect earnings, limit competition, and shield members from consequences. They are among the most powerful trade unions in the world.

Unless Powell is guilty of misusing client funds (i.e., dipping into the escrow money), I doubt the Texas Bar will do shit. Scamming people on the internet is not yet a violation of the DR’s, I don’t think. It could be, but I don’t see them making the effort to make that case.
