a) "Election Day"? We still have an election day. It ends a period of voting that is open by weeks in some states (not all) to allow greater participation by the electorate in their government. Ditto for absentee ballots. None of this was foisted on us in the middle of the night, or forced on us by an alien power. We've been doing it this way for decades. The states with early voting and all-mail in voting, like it that way (I wish Texas would go for all mail ballots, frankly). What is this orange colored buffoon bleating about? Of course, this is a guy who wants to start his campaign for 2024 on January 20th. Not sure what the complaint is, here, except that he lost.Statement by Donald J. Trump, The President of the United States

b) "you have to prove almost nothing to exercise our greatest privilege"? What does he want, citizenship papers? I can remember being assured in my feckless youth that my Social Security number would never be a badge of identification, so terrified were we of being filed, stamped, briefed, de-briefed, and numbered! Mark of the Beast! Citizenship papers were for authoritarian dictatorships, not for the land of the free and the home of the brave! To this day we don't approve of police stopping people randomly on the streets and asking for identification. But to vote, you need a government approved piece of paper! Because we really need to be suspicious of all those brown and black people (especially!) voting. Come for the mindless harangue, stay for the casual racism.
c)As President he has no higher duty than to protect the laws and Constitution of the United States. That is why he has filed so many frivolous actions, and called upon elected officials to violate the law in service of his bruised ego and fear of a future without the legal protection of the DOJ's OLC rule.
d) And then he complains because public employees across the country performed the herculean task of counting a record number of votes in a rapid and accurate manner. Sure it took a long time. It always done. The Florida recount in 2000 took so long it ran up against the Federal statute deadline. Had he won, Trump would be praising those civil servants and public workers. Since he lost, it's all their fault.
e) Biden was told not to campaign? Wasn't Trump complaining because Biden was in his basement, instead of campaigning? Which way does he want to have this? (Stupid question: he wants to have it the way where he wins, which is the thing he can't have.). And Biden staying in his basement wasn't because of covid, but because of conspiracy? Honestly, what color is the sky on his planet?
f) As everyone keeps asking, if the Democrats "had it covered," why didn't they gain seats in the House and take control of the Senate. For having "it covered," they did a terrible job.
g) "The Constitutional process must be allowed to continue." Rich coming from the man trying to block that process at every turn. The states must certify their votes by next Tuesday; the electoral college meets on Dec. 14th, and the Congress approves the electoral college results in January, at which point Biden is truly elected President. All proceedings for the transition are governed by a statute dating to 1963. What else does Trump want done?
h) He wants to "honor" the 74 million votes for him, but dishonor the 80 million+ votes for Biden. Nice work if you can get it.
And that's it. The "most important speech of [his] life" lasts less than two and a half minutes. And it establishes nothing, except Trump is a sore loser still trying to skin the last time from the last rube before he's hustled off the national stage. (Correction: apparently on Facebook he went on for 46 minutes. One more reason I'm glad I'm not on Facebook.)
Seems fitting.
Correction: apparently on Facebook he went on for 46 minutes. One more reason I'm glad I'm not on Facebook. But these are samples of how bad it got, via Charlie Pierce, beginning with what Mr. Pierce calls "Perhaps the greatest Sir story of them all":
The speaker of the house of a certain state said, "Sir, I expected to lose my seat. And instead, because of you, because of that incredible charge, and because of all those rallies, we had a tremendous victory. And everybody knows it. You were much more popular than me, sir, except I got many more votes than you did. And it's impossible for that to happen." There is something wrong. And I will tell you what's wrong...voter fraud.
Again, the fraud affected Trump, but skipped this politician. What, is voter fraud some kind of novel virus, and this time Trump is the one who's not immune?
Millions of votes were cast illegally in the swing states. If that's the case, then the results of the individual swing states must be overturned and overturned immediately. Some people say that's too far out. That's too harsh. Well, does that mean that we take a president, and we've just elected a president who was elected with votes that were fraudulent? No, it means you have to overturn the election.
Odlly enough, no court in the land sees it that way, and none of the 40 or so lawsuits filed to prove this claim, have gotten beyond a hearing on a motion to dismiss. "If that's the case" is clearly...not the case.
It doesn't get any better:
If we are right about the fraud, Joe Biden can't be president.
Again, your own lawyers have declined to bring one fraud case in one court. I think we're done with that issue now.
They would fill out ballots not even knowing if these people were going to show up and when they did show up, they said, "Sorry. You've already voted."
What?
It's name is Dominion. With a turn of a dial or the change of a chip, you can take a vote for Trump and change it to Biden.
Except the Dominion machines leave a paper trail (I wish we had those in Houston. Our machines are 20 years old and leave no paper trail at all.), and that paper trail corresponds exactly to the tabulated results.
It's already been out that 100s of thousands of absentee ballots have been requested. Who's getting those ballots?
Uh...voters?
It is statistically impossible that the person, me, who led the charge lost.
Says the most inumerate President in recent history.
Yeah, that explanation never really made much sense to me, either. Not sure what Sidney Powell was too conspiratorial for the president about it you listen to this https://t.co/yJyCmuISyJ
