— Noelle Cook (@_Noelle_Cook) March 7, 2022The average semi gets six and half mpg.
As some noticed, the convoy is going to be forced to pay out thousands for just a day of protest. The lowest price for diesel in Hagerstown, Maryland, is $3.93 per gallon, according to GasBuddy, and the highest is $4.56. So, at an average of $4.25 per gallon and the average trip from Hagerstown to I-495, and around the Beltway and back to Hagerstown, is about 184 miles. That means each drive from Hagerstown, a loop around the Beltway, and back to Hagerstown will cost about $120.32 each trip for one truck. If there are 100 trucks that's over $12,000 in diesel fuel.
Granted, they report having $1.5 million to burn, so presumably they can afford it. But what are they accomplishing?
I just pulled off near the I-270 interchange and so far six trucks have peeled off after seemingly only completing one of two Beltway laps - as the lead trucks push on for a second.

Here's the scene from a Beltway overpass as convoy drivers start on their second lap and continue to be separated. pic.twitter.com/KjKF1SoRI8

A little confused about that: was it on the Beltway that they meant to do this? Or did they do it back in Hagerstown at the huge parking lot they are using? For whose benefit was it, either way? That was Sunday; what about Monday?Tonight back in Hagerstown, after truckers part of The People's Convoy attempted their failed Beltway excursion, one of the planned activities by organizers included truckers honking their horns for an entire five minutes.

Success? This morning truckers with The People's Convoy plan to drive from Hagerstown and be back on the Beltway. Organizer Brian Brase says today they will attempt to occupy two lines. Yet, the convoy could barely occupy one lane yesterday due to standard traffic separating them.

I have to note that's not a semi; it's a pickup truck.I’m currently turned around on the Beltway heading west and on the outer loop, traffic has slowed due to a white convoy pickup truck breaking down. pic.twitter.com/m1Lxzsht1q

I'm on the Beltway where The People’s Convoy is struggling to occupy one lane of traffic let alone two. Most of them have been separated from one another - worse than yesterday. pic.twitter.com/aG17tFT7V9

Nevertheless, organizers remained optimistic, pledging on Telegram, “We will hold the line!” as the group remained split over whether they should enter into Washington, D.C. proper.
Maybe they should try that Printing and Engraving thing. That might get them some leverage.Everyone in DC, NoVa and Southern Maryland:

“Please god no not the Beltway, the thing we avoid at all costs because it sucks.”
I hear the convoy is also threatening to buy up all future tickets for the Bureau of Printing and Engraving tour. https://t.co/Dj0zwwAbn5
Dr. King built a movement that was willing to go to jail, or suffer assaults by police, water cannon, and dogs. They actually changed the country (although that rubber band is trying to snap back. I'm waiting for the current Supremes to gut the Civil Rights Act and give us back our god-given right to segretate public bathrooms and lunch counters again. No, I'm not kidding.). They stayed with it and accomplished something, though it took almost 20 years just to get to legislation. These clowns expect new laws next week, for issues that are already moot. "Personal experiences that build connection"? You get the same thing on Facebook, but with Russian troll farms collapsing, that's going the way of the Dodo, too. And what commitments are "solidified" by this abject failure and waste of time? The leadership doesn't even have the courage of its convictions to so much as set a tire inside the Beltway. This whole thing disappears down the memory hole in the space of a few weeks. Just like January 6th, there's no organization here without an organizer. Trump got them to attack the Capitol, and then he was done with them. If Brian Base can't get another convoy organized to again pointlessly drive around the D.C. Beltway, who is going to commit to him? Or to whatever it is they think they're going to accomplish (but won't)?The People's Convoy wasn't a failure. It was a movement-building event that drew thousands to Hagerstown & to overpasses & convoy stops across the US. These are exactly the kinds of hands-on, personal experiences that build connections, solidify commitments, & recruit new members pic.twitter.com/6orBSd5pUl

If there are any Canadians doing this I want them identified and on a permanent exclusion list once they go past the border.
