When you put ideas above people, you turn them into things. (A ten-year old girl cannot consent to sexual intercourse. Likewise she cannot consent to carrying a child to term, an eventuality that would likely lead to her death in childbirth. The law preserves a child’s humanity better than this discussion does. And that is not praise for the law.)That the care of a 10 year old girl who is pregnant is being debated and decided by politicians and not doctors and nurses in consultation with loving family is barbaric.
