I Read It…

...as people getting too worked up about really minor shit.

The question of casting, I mean. I watched the first two episodes, and IMHO Tolkien wept. Not over the casting, but the story-telling (or lack of it). This billion dollar waste of money is based on the appendices to LOTR. It’s no more Tolkien than that. Which, briefly, shows what a fine teller of tales Tolkien was.

The various races just seems normal to me. I watch a lot of reruns and it’s odd how “white” the TeeVee world was. And how many decades it took for me to notice it.

It’s the only improvement on Peter Jackson this Prime series makes. Otherwise the only thing this series lacks is Jackson; and Tolkien. And Jackson wouldn’t have touched it with a club, because of the lack of Tolkien. The inclusive casting is the only benefit.

But, you know, racism must out.
