It's not just for Trumpies anymore!

And I do remember when Woodward was still working for newspapers (maybe he still does; all he writes are books, though) he was publishing books about Nixon talking to the paintings in the hall, etc., and nobody wanted to charge him with misprision of a felony.  'Course, that's probably because Nixon had been pardoned by then.  But still, Woodward and Bernstein put a lot in All The President's Men that never appeared in the pages of WaPo, underlining the serious nature of Nixon's many, many crimes.  Nobody cried foul, and Robert Redford enshrined them in secular sainthood by playing Woodward in the movie.

Woodward has done nothing since but write books full of salacious details, not unlike Ms. Haberman's three interviews with Trump reported in her book and The Atlantic.  But nobody wants to imprison Mr. Woodward.

Wonder why not?

There's also the ignorance factor:  if I don't know about it, nobody does!  Why didn't Ms. Habermann tell the government Trump told her (or as much as did) that he had government documents!!!!!  What makes you think the government didn't know?  The DOJ doesn't run a press conference on the daily announcing what it's up to now.  Had Trump not trumpeted the search warrant (a decision that is decisively chewing his ass off right now), the DOJ wouldn't have said a word and we'd all be like:  "Wait!  Does DOJ KNOW about this??????"

Yeah; just assume they know a lot more than you do, and move on.  Just because some reporter doesn't rush it into print or get in front of a camera ASAP doesn't mean the conspiracy theories are all functioning as designed.  In fact, most of these people complaining sound a lot like Q, expecting the truth to be revealed and radically change the world.

It's never, ever worked that way.
