Not a day goes by I don’t see an internet article or a tweet warning me that Donald Trump is the living doom of the American Experiment and he will collapse the social order while erasing democracy from the land with his awesome powers and his army of minions.

And all I can think is: “Trump is too stupid to tie his own shoes or cut his own meat, and if he’s the destroyer of democracy it can only mean we the people are even stupider than he is.”

But there is a legal system and it is going to pick its teeth with his bones. The fact that we have a functioning legal system despite the clowns we elect to public office belies the atheist simpleton ideas that humans worship awesome powers they don’t understand. “Legal Twitter” makes it obvious daily most people on Twitter have no idea what the judicial system does or how it does it. Yet they insist it wreak vengeance on their enemies with the jawbone of an ass and swift, cosmic justice. At the same time they have no clue how that would happen. It’s as mysterious as the workings of God, and basically as remote from their lives.

But neither do they fall down and worship it, this all-powerful force they invoke without knowing how to, and which sets the course of the country straight without them even being aware.

Sounds like the stupider and more simplistic conceptions of a divine being, to me. And yet no one ever thinks of the American justice system that way.

Just as well. But I wish they’d at least realize something is going to save us from Trump : the mills of the justice system which, like the mills of God, grind slow, but exceeding fine. 

Trump’s fate is not to be toast. He’s going to be powdered toast.
