You probably should have consulted legal counsel before calling Twitter a publisher.Exactly. Twitter should be easy to use, but no more relentless free advertising of competitors. No traditional publisher allows this and neither will Twitter.

Any attempt to remove my tweets that link to my other social media accounts, not violating any law, would actually make #twitter an editorial media, and no longer a social media platform, with civil and criminal liability for *any* illegal content therein. https://t.co/kwoFHVue43

The author of these tweets is the deputy director of France's Cyberspace Gendarmerie Command. And “editorial media” under EU law seems to be the same thing as “publisher” under American law:For a legal reference supporting this, in the US context, you may read how and under what conditions social platforms are protected under Section 230 of the Communications decency act https://t.co/4m4WoF0yNt

So Elon is just stupid.I’ve been discussing this offline with @AriCohn and I think the most important problem with Musk’s tweet (and his underling policy move) is that it raises antitrust and unfair competition concerns by targeting potential rivals that may not be protected by Section 230.

Does the whole family hate the thought of seeking legal counsel?elons mommy on here defending him is a really special treat you don't get on other websites https://t.co/0HqGHLvZe5

Now which is harder to understand: the new policy, or its rescission? Elmo probably needs to explain this to his Mommy.Musk responds: Precisely. https://t.co/noC1FwtHm8

If only there was some sort of seasonally appropriate story about the ills of one man having too much money and being awful to everyone.

I wonder if he'd been this stupid if he wasn't "a genius." It reminds me of Oscar Levant's comment about having known Doris Day before she was a virgin.
