I can still remember when the FBI searched Mar-A-Lago, the expectation was there wouldn’t be a criminal investigation because there seldom was. But then we found out how much effort Trump put into keeping those documents:"After the discovery, Biden’s lawyers immediately contacted the National Archives, which started looking into the matter ... Biden’s team cooperated with NARA, which later came to view the situation as a mistake due to lack of safeguards for documents, the source said" https://t.co/bAW8x4M6XF

Silly. What makes a Trump indictment necessary is his obstruction and lying. If he'd given the stuff back to NARA when he was first asked to, there would never have been a criminal investigation. https://t.co/PQXdjhlzgN

"Change the facts, change the outcome.”And it expressly violates the Espionage Act to "willfully retain[]" sensitive national defense information "and fail[] to deliver it on demand to the officer or employee of the United States entitled to receive it." Trump clearly did that; there's no suggestion Biden did. https://t.co/jXX42kfrYR

Soon? Or sooner?I noticed this as well. The differences between the Trump and Biden document stories are pretty obvious right up front - an accident, as opposed to a willful f*** you to the DOJ - but CNN has been hammering on it anyway. https://t.co/kLEXkGxYPh

Let's see how they do!!!
#Maddow ridicules GOP's 'brief flurry of excitement' after Biden docs scandal seemingly fizzles https://t.co/8lPlUkKQhK
— Raw Story (@RawStory) January 10, 2023
As I said, tonight, a brief flurry of excitement on the right about this prospect when the news broke about the Penn Biden Center," Maddow continued. "The reason it was only a brief flurry of excitement is because, in President Biden's case, he and his lawyers appear to have actually done the right thing when it comes to these classified documents. Biden's lawyers say they discovered these documents among his presidential papers on November 2nd. The White House counsel's office notified the National Archives that same day about what had been found. The National Archives, apparently, did not even know these documents were missing and had not been seeking their return. The Archives took custody of that material the following morning. That appears to be it."
Maddow explained that the "brief euphoria on the right" was that somehow it would exonerate Trump, but it was "already turning into a bit of a hangover because of the stark contrast of the actions of the current president and the former guy when it comes to classified material."Yet CNN will do its best to keep the flame alive. 24/7 news reporting won’t fill itself. Not that it’s easy:
