To Rick: in the primaries, yes.I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but here in Texas, we have an Attorney General who has been under indictment for at least 6 years and he's been re-elected TWICE during that time. I'll see myself out. Thanks.

To the reply: Texas is where I grew up a yellow dog Democrat. If they ran a yellow dog on the Democratic ticket, I’d vote for it.
Most Republican voters in Texas are that way. Most voters don’t know the taxes they pay to school districts go to the general fund in Austin rather than pay for local schools. (The Texas Constitution doesn’t allow a state property tax. The Texas Supreme Court ruled that is not a state property tax. Were it perceived as such, there would be hell to pay. It still isn’t.) Which is to say most voters don’t know about Paxton’s indictment; nor would many care anyway. (Most voters don’t know what the AG does, either. All that matters is that he’s not a Democrat.)
Texas is a GOP microcosm, much as it was once a Democratic one. But it doesn’t reflect the nation. At. All.
