"Wow, man, that’s so heavy!” (Question from the back: humankind’s “power” (on your scale) comes from an opposable thumb and the ability to use it to engineer. What instrumentalities, precisely, does AI wield?Spacey X https://t.co/IgXxWnbVpp

Avoiding science fiction answers involving robots that don’t exist yet, and other such malarkey which make bad science fiction possible.
Really wasn’t thinking about AI when I started the morning skirting Cartesian dualism (which I do no support). Then again, the leap from ChatGPT to the end of humanity at the hands (?) of our creation is one even bad sci-fi wouldn’t make. I mean, I suppose AI could try to take over the world if we told it not to (yes, I watched “I, Robot” last night. No, we’re nowhere near that dystopian future. We don’t even have self-driving cars, do we, Elmo? Oh, wait, Mercedes-Benz does, don’t they?). But then we’d have to get philosophical; and Elmo clearly isn’t equipped for that.
Instrumentalities? Let's ask the Krell about that...
