(Yeah, I'm old enough to remember almost all of these excuses. 'Round and 'round it goes, where it stops (does it stop?), nobody knows.)An old version of this from the Nixon era: pic.twitter.com/NqpqWt104d

(Learned that, too. Support for Nixon after Watergate broke? "America, Love It or Leave It?" I also remember the people of David Frum's ilk who were fine with it because the people on the "other side" were "filthy hippies." And hippies were mostly middle-class white college kids. Like the ones gunned down at Kent State; the consensus on them was generally that they "deserved it." Even though not a one of them was part of the anti-war protest that day. Didn't matter. College kids. They should know better.)If you ever wondered, "who'd do what if a would-be dictator tried to overturn the Constitution and seize power by violence in the United States" ... well now you know. All those NRA gun types? Pro dictator. Flags in lapels on TV? Totally pro dictator.

🎶"Tin soldiers and Nixon comin,/We're finally on our own/This summer I hear the drummin',/Four dead in Ohio.
Gotta get down to it/soldiers are cutting us down/shoulda been done long ago/What if you knew here and/found her head on the ground?/How can you run when you know?"🎶
Sock it to me?
