Let Us Now Praise…

Brave Republicans:

Let me be clear: We have a law in the state of Georgia that clearly outlines the legal steps that can be taken if constituents believe their local prosecutors are violating their oath by engaging in unethical or illegal behavior," Kemp said at a news conference. "Up to this point, I have not seen any evidence that DA Willis' actions, or lack thereof, warrant action by the Prosecuting Attorney Oversight Commission." Kemp stated that removing Willis is "not feasible and may ultimately prove to be unconstitutional."
Yeah, but:
"The problem here is that Kemp authorized the very mechanism that Trump-supporting lawmakers hope to use to pluck Willis from her position. Kemp signed Senate Bill 92 into law — that is, the bill authorizing the creation of the Prosecuting Attorneys Oversight Commission, which would oversee any such effort," Jones recalls, adding, "Watching Kemp's news conference, I saw a man trying to put out a fire he helped fuel (or, at least, appearing to do so for political purposes)."
...
Jones writes, "The dubious legal footing on which SB 92 rests, and the near-certainty that it will be weaponized for political purposes, is precisely why the Public Rights Project and the prosecutors it reps have sued to stop SB 92 and the Prosecuting Attorneys Oversight Commission it would create."
Which way does that old pony run?
"When you were on that debate stage in Milwaukee, which has earned you some good reviews inside of the party, inside of the Republican Party, you raised your hand, said you would still support him if he was convicted of a crime, and the nominee next year," Costa noted. "Do you stand by your decision to hold up your hand on stage and back Trump, should he be the nominee and be a convicted felon?"
"What you saw were candidates on that stage said that they would do exactly what they signed and pledged to do, which is support the Republican nominee," Haley replied. "I don't think President Trump's going to be the nominee. I think it's going to be me. But I will tell you that any Republican is better than what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are doing."
"But you are implying that the American people are not smart," she continued. "The American people are not going to vote for a convicted criminal. The American people are going to vote for someone who can win a general election."
Every which way but loose.

The American people won’t vote for a convicted criminal; but MAGA will. Haley is whistling past the graveyard, not unlike Trump’s D.C. lawyer:
Let me just tell you what," she added, "When a federal judge has to tell you several times to take the temperature down and treat you like a small child on the first day of kindergarten, you have a big problem-- a credibility problem. You have a problem in the courtroom that will hurt your client down the line and he did not help Trump in any way with his behavior."
Lauro knows he has a virtually unwinnable case. He’s not trying to court the judge or even appear reasonable. He’s playing for his client, probably so he can continue to be paid, almost certainly because he wants to convince Trump the judge is against him when the verdict comes in.

Lauro is just shoring the wreckage against his ruin; as Haley is doing with the GOP. She’s actually playing for 2028, because next year is already lost.
