The local school board has a $35 million hole in the budget thanks to Abbott and the Lege refusing, after one regular session and an historic 4 special sessions, to fund public education in Texas. As a result the board had to vote recently to close several schools and consolidate classrooms and teachers. And that only covered $11 million of the deficit. More cuts and pain are coming.Did you know that recapture is the state’s third largest source of revenue? SBISD has won awards for fiscal excellence for decades—we did not get here due to fiscal mismanagement. @TeamBettencourt @joanhuffman @GregAbbott_TX @LaceyHullTx pic.twitter.com/wSaiLcysxr

The people listed there are State Senators and Representatives; all Republicans. During the regular session they told the school board, to their faces (in personal meetings) and in print, to pound sand. They also tried to blame the district for the problem they caused. When parents & community members in a mostly Conservative area put up a bill board to support their school district their reps SHOULD pay attention. #fullyfundSBISD @SBISD @jennifer_blaine @GregAbbott_TX @TeamBettencourt @joanhuffman @ManoForStateRep @LaceyHullTx @SBSpeaksTX pic.twitter.com/BND3bDRIOR
