I don’t think Trump has “normalized” this practice, or that we’re “numb to it.” Rather, I think the reaction now is: “What else is new?”Trump boasted about speaking to members of a murder victim's family. It now appears he made that up.

I'm trying to imagine the political world's reaction if Biden did the same thing. https://t.co/shuEJ5BcbF
We all know Trump lies. The change in what he lies about (apparently he did speak to the family of Laken Riley, so maybe he’s confused? Which is actually more serious, now.) is appalling. But we’ll get used to it. By which I mean we’ll factor it in, like we do that Elmo is a Nazi, not our techno-overlord and savior.
“Trump lies” is not even a “man bites dog” story anymore. What’s still remarkable is that the narrative permis calling Trump a liar. I’m old enough to remember when that was not allowed, even after 4 years if Trump in office. Now that characterization has become @normalized.”
Take the win.
