And then: hope for the best. And maybe get a copy of “The Egg and I.” Claudette Colbert, Fred MacMurray, Ma and Pa Kettle; it’ll keep you entertained while you calculate how much your “free” eggs are costing you. Although maybe your time would be better spent reading the original memoir. That might give more practical advice. You’re going to need a lot of practical advice.
And ask why Trump’s cabinet members don’t just tell you to eat cake, since bread’s so expensive. Because you know they want to.

Now that I’m retired, I need to visit the parts of the country I’ve never visited before.

ReplyDeleteThere's an Egg and I road near Chimacum off the highway south of Port Townsend in Western Washington. It's where the author of the novel lived on her chicken ranch when she wrote the book. I took a short story class from the fellow who edited her book for publication. Fair number of Tarheels in that neighborhood. She invented Ma and Pa Kettle.
ReplyDeleteThat dumb bunny thinks that peoples' backyard hens are immune from bird flu? They're all bird brains. I know people who are actively considering slaughtering theirs because birds around here have been showing up dead from bird flu. Talk about bird brains.
