Haven’t They Heard Of The Streisand Effect

We really are fortunate in our opponents:

The number of people who have signed up to attend a “No Kings” protest on Saturday has more than doubled since House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and other GOP leaders began attacking the effort last week.

“Organizers have seen a spike in RSVPs since Speaker Johnson and Republicans have mischaracterized the ‘No King’ rallies, seeing more than double the amount since Oct. 10,” said Britt Jacovich, a spokesperson for MoveOn, one of the progressive groups helping to organize the day of nationwide, peaceful protests against Trump’s authoritarianism.

Others behind the effort include the American Civil Liberties Union, the League of Conservation Voters, the SEIU and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

Oct. 10th is right around the time Johnson began dubbing the protests “hate America” rallies, which is both nonsensical and an intentional effort to distort peaceful protests against authoritarianism into something scary and bad, and the people attending them into something contemptible – a tactic straight out of the authoritarian playbook.

The first wave of “No Kings” protests took place in June, and featured more than 5 million people peacefully protesting Trump's attacks on democracy. Baby Boomers, or Americans in their 60s and 70s, were especially present and jazzed to be there with signs and chants.

Jacovich said organizers expect even more people to attend Saturday's protests, with people already having already signed up in towns and cities across all 50 states.

“They anticipate more this time around,” she said, “with over 2,600 events compared to 2,100 in June.”
Who knew there were so many Commies under American beds?
