Or We Could Just Say…

..."The President’s crazier than a shithouse rat.” I mean, how is it different from this? Which seems to be easy to label “insane” and not at all apocalyptic. But then: “BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID!!!😱

But it’s not denial to ask: “Can he do it?” The answer is: “No.” States determine their ballots, not Presidents. A majority of states will deny him ballot access if he tries. The 22nd amendment is very clear, and even the Supremes are not going to decide it needs enabling legislation.

And even if the Supremes rule that Trump can defy the 22nd amendment because he’s so dreamy, Trump has the lowest approval rating of any President in history. And he hasn’t finished his first year!

All we can say right now is that Trump’s craziness is making other people crazy. I can only conclude they aren’t as sensible as I thought; or, they’re doing it for the clicks.

  1. His lunacy on the way to and on landing in Japan seems to me to be worse than usual. His three list cognitive test that he doubted AOC could pass was even more demented than the five item one.

  2. No doubt, he’s getting worse in real time, and not over months or years anymore. People keep saying “25th Amendment!,” but it really doesn’t work that way. The 25th requires a 2/3rds vote of both houses to sideline the sitting President permanently. Impeachment only requires a majority in the House. Removal still requires 2/3rds in the Senate. Even with a massive change in Congress in the midterms, I don’t think either is a live option.

There is no royal road out of this mess.
