President Trump on Tuesday delivered blatantly xenophobic public remarks, which included attacking Somali immigrants in Minnesota and calling them “garbage.”Question for the NYT style sheet: is “xenophobic” a synonym for “racist,” or nah? Would it be racist to say “All Belgians are miserable, fat bastards,” or just xenophobic?

Racist is a state that a white person can only approach but never achieve. I used to think that the media would at leat call someone racist if they used the n-word. But a black rapper once used the n-word so the media isn't really sure so now and wouldn't dare call a white person racist for using the word. Maybe they would use it for a Klan member in robes, but they would want to be sure they weren't just celebrating their heritage.
