Amen

Eternal God: use us, even our ignorance and weakness, to bring about your holy will. Hurry the day when all people shall live together in your love; for yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
The rest of this prayer, and the context, courtesy of Father Jake.

As RJEskow notes, the Israelis are learning this faster than we are; or at least they are recognizing that violence is not the path to the new millenium of peace and prosperity. Maybe it's American exceptionalism and that "shining city on a hill" notion that still seems so "American." Or maybe it's those two oceans, which have protected us from so much of the bloodshed inherent in living so near one's neighbors. At any rate, it underlines the "Let's you and him fight!" nature of the American support for the Israeli invasion of Lebanon.

Eternal God: use us, even our ignorance and weakness, to bring about your holy will. Hurry the day when all people shall live together in your love; for yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
