But Iraq is better off without Saddam Hussein

The Senior Commander in Iraq speaks:

What is needed, he said, is progress on the economic and political fronts that will undercut support for the insurgency.

Violence and instability in Iraq have hit the economy hard. The basics of life are all hard to obtain. And when food and fuel can be bought, they are expensive. The country's central bank recently warned of massive unemployment, faltering growth and inflation of nearly 70 percent.
