Economic Anxiety Takes Such Curious Forms

And his eyes are shifty, too!

Sean Hannity is on the case for you:

Writing on Twitter, Hannity said that Obama’s portrait, which was unveiled on Monday, was loaded with “inappropriate sexual innuendo” that showed “a stark contrast to predecessors.”

Let the record reflect that I've been to Hannity's Twitter feed without finding this tweet; but apparently Twitter thinks it did exist, which means even Sean Hannity can feel shame.  That or the tentacles of the Deep State are long, indeed!  What, by the way, is the "sexual innuendo"?  Besides just portraying a black man, I mean (!).

The article itself details Obama portrait artist Kehinde Wiley’s past use of what the New York Times has described as “rich textile or wallpaper backgrounds whose patterns he has likened to abstractions of sperm.”

The article then zooms in on a portion of the Obama portrait that it believes depicts a sperm swimming on the former president’s head, just around the area of his left temple.

The Hannity article said that the purported sperm in the Obama painting was part of a “shocking” and “widening scandal” about the portrait. In addition to painting the supposed sperm, notes the Hannity article, Kehinde Wiley has in the past made jokes about “killing Whitey.”

I'm pretty sure Saul Alinksy had something to do with it, too!  Check out the detail above; zoom in, you can see Obama's head is crawling with....grey hairs?  Highlights?  Sperm?  Hannity reports:  you decide (but decide correctly!).

Hannity's audience are the people Democrats are supposed to be reaching out to in November, people animated by economic anxiety and...black portrait painters putting sperm in the hair of black men in paintings?

Minor historical footnote:  Not only did Hannity pull the Tweet, he pulled the blog post on his radio website the Tweet linked to.  The historically curious can find the latter here.  And where did this nonsense originate?  Not in the fevered brain of Mr. Manatee...er, Hannity!

The good thing is, it's already gone again.  I still say Saul Alinksy had something to do with it.  There's probably an Alinksy code in the leaves.....

Minor historical postscript:  apparently the Deep State got to Hannity!

In a statement provided by Fox News, Hannity told The Daily Beast: “Earlier today my web staff posted content that was not reviewed by me before publication. It does not reflect my voice and message and, therefore, I had it taken down.”

Alinsky lives!

  1. I'm not sure about Obama's portrait, to me it looks like he is going to be swallowed up by the bushes soon. Standing in front of a thick hedge, it reminds me of a drawing from my childhood book The Secret Garden. I find the background distracting but I must admit, sperm never occurred to me. I don't get the sexual innuendo bit, quite the opposite, he looks like a man resigned to his fate into oblivion. Clearly I don't "get" this artist as much as I read about it. But Hannity? sheesh

  2. Best I can figure, the "sexual innuendo" is a portrait of a black man in a chair.

No, seriously. Maybe it's a Southern thing.... ;-)

  3. Maybe it's like how the song Dancing In The Street by those famous militants Marvin Gaye, and Ivy Jo Hunter was a call for rioting when Martha Reeves said it was a party song.

I really like it and I love Michelle Obama's portrait.

  4. I like 'em both, even though YMMV for everyone on such subjects.
