The government didn’t plead for injunctive relief. Their own pleading indicates a review was conducted and tha manuscript cleared. Any further review must have a legitimate purpose, and the burden of proof for that rests on the government. I don’t presume they have met that burden just because they have brought suit. In fact, reading the portions of the Complaint that I have, this case stinks to high heaven. The DOJ doesn’t really mean to prosecute it. They filed it to harass Bolton. They know the case won’t come to trial for a year, at least. They barely asked for relief and can’t really think this case is winnable. But the point is not to win, which is such a low for the DOJ most lawyers commenting on this can’t see what’s plainly before them. Barr’s corruption of the Justice Department is nearly total. And this points to why I say that:
The suit is the last chance to delay the book, and it isn’t that. Trump wants his petulance fee. And he’s using the government to get it. Which is the real corruption. These aren’t questions of policy differences. This is corruption.
