Joe Biden Really Should Take Our Feelings Into Account

My wife's sister was killed in a car accident when I was in a pulpit but away on vacation. It cut my vacation short but extended my absence from the church by a few days. It was almost surprising how little sympathy she, or I, got for that loss.

    I think it's one of the results of people moving around a lot that people seem less important to them than if they live in the same community with the same people for decades. Though that's no guarantee. One of the members of my family died, someone who had been involved with their church and the community pretty intensively but their death didn't seem to make that much of an impression on anyone outside of the family.
