Does He Think The Honorific Of “President”…

...means he still has the power and privileges of office? Or does he think running for President is the same thing as being President? Or that polls are a magic legal shield? They’re doing their best, aren’t they? Now the magic shield is created by simply announcing your candidacy (primaries don’t begin until next year). Which would be a helluva way to run a railroad. So do elections begin the moment elections end? Are we constantly and permanently in a state of elections? Is everybody who runs for President automatically exempt from legal process? Or is Ramaswamy just a blithering idiot? No plug for his book. I’m not sure that one counts. Justice is a terrible idea, and clearly Republicans must be protected from it! Damn  the rule of law! Either we have a party in opposition to it, or we don’t! Well, yeah... Wait...isn’t that what happens if he can’t? True. But twice something makes everything seem worse. And nobody really knows what it means anyway. At this point you have to ask: do they even know how government works? Frankly, I’ve got to say that’s an even better riposte. See? Was that so hard? Never get your legal advice from a preacher. They aren’t even trained in the Law of Moses. So the theory the GOP’s going with is that we are in a perpetual state of elections? And the electorate can’t take into account a criminal investigation/prosecution and decide for themselves what it means? “Land of the free,” right? If it makes you feel better, a lot of us lawyers are ashamed you’re a lawyer, too. 793 is the Espionage Act. “Conspiracy” requires more than one party to the conspiracy. Can’t conspire
with me, myself, and I.
DeSantis is clearly jealous. He wants one, too. Hell, at this point he desperately needs one. It couldn’t hurt! "WILL BE WILD!" So will the Keystone Kops in kourt. An NBC reporter caught Smith walking out of a courthouse to get lunch. He politely approached him and politely asked questions, and Smith politely never said a word. Not. A. Word. I hear Republicans screaming and writhing in agony like damned souls doused with holy water as Biden says those two words of self-description.

And in closing: just when you thought it couldn’t get any better:
The FBI on Thursday arrested a businessman at the center of the scandal that led to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s historic impeachment, a move that came amid new questions about the men’s dealings raised by financial records the Republican’s lawyers made public to try to clear him of bribery allegations.
Nate Paul, 36, was taken into custody by federal agents and booked into an Austin jail in the afternoon, according to Travis County Sheriff’s Office records. It was not immediately clear what charges led to his arrest, but the records showed he was being held on a federal detainer for a felony.
Paul’s arrest followed a years long federal investigation into the Austin real estate developer — a probe that Paxton involved his office in, setting off a chain of events that ultimately led to his impeachment last month.
Lawyers for Paul did not immediately respond to requests for comment. One of Paxton’s defense attorneys, Dan Cogdell, said he had no additional information on the arrest. The FBI declined to comment, and a spokesman for federal prosecutors in West Texas did not respond to inquiries.
If you think Paxton isn’t feeling even closer to his msn Trump right now, you haven’t been paying attention. Paxton is under federal investigation, too. That shoe may not drop until September, when Paxton’s impeachment trial is over. Timing is everything.
