...replying to another tweet, urging the author to “tag” the original tweet to the Chief Justice. Because to people on Twitter, that’s how the world works. Tag the Chief Justice of the United States, and he’ll straighten things out.Suddenly, Trump is not referring to Carney as the Governor of our 51st state. pic.twitter.com/3KzJwmb93y

🤦
Trump does the same thing. He sends out social media messages with no real content, and adds the very Presidential line: “Thank you for your attention to this matter.” As if, among other things, my attention has magical governing powers.
I see it all the time, where I’m urged to pay attention to the next burning issue, and think the right thoughts about it, as if government were Tinkerbelle and only my applause would save it from extinction. Paying attention to Trump’s empty pronouncements somehow validates him? Or is it that somewhere in his lizard brain the new Canadian PM’s announcement made Trump realize he might have gone too far? And now he has to backpedal and seem reasonable, to claim this is all part of “the art of the deal”?
I’m just going to go back to not thinking my attention has magical powers.
