Repeat after me: it's not about the death toll

Trump in Fox News town hall again compares coronavirus to the flu and auto accidents, saying thousands die from those causes but the country didn’t shut down over it.

Bad as it is to treat the deaths of others (never anyone we know!) as literally a cost of doing business, the situation is really as simple as this:

We had projected a need for 110K hospital beds at the apex of this virus.

The rate of infection is INCREASING and the curve has increased.

New projections show we may need 140K beds.

NYS is doing everything we can on every level to slow the spread.

We need your cooperation.

It's not the number dead, it's the number sick, and the healthcare they will need, and won't be able to get.  Italy is deciding now who gets a respirator and who doesn't, because they don't have enough to go around.  They are enacting Dan Patrick's solution, not to save the economy, but as a simple and horrible matter of triage.

We are next, if we don't do something about it now.
