Is there a crime in Trump's letter? It was stupid on so many levels, but was it illegal?A former president sent a letter to a secretary of state asking him to decertify the election, a slow escalation from the reinstatement talk of a few months ago, and everyone wants to avert their gaze. Maybe someone will get a sponge.

Bottom line: absent a crime (I dunno, is there one?), the First Amendment protects him. As for response, what do we do? Ban Liz Harrington from Twitter? Burn down Mar-A-Lago? Break his fingers so he can't type, gag him so he can't speak?
"Avert their gaze"? I'm not so sure that isn't the right response, now. Like the Tralfamadorians who closed their fingers over the eye in their palm when Billy Pilgrim was being stupid. Do we augment Trump's idiocy, do we trumpet it? That's a bit like punching the tar baby, now. Or the Streisand effect, in reverse. Do we need to publicize further that the former POTUS is a clown?
Although it's pretty clear he did it because Georgia is still investigating his phone call back in December. Maybe we could talk about that.
But this, with no other context? I don't see why we shouldn't ignore him. How many examples of his temper tantrums do we need?
