“Trump [put] a new spin on the heroes of the ... book of Hebrews. Instead of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Joseph, Moses, David, and Samuel, we got Sean (Hannity), Laura (Ingraham), Tucker (Carlson), and the hosts of Fox and Friends.”https://t.co/oOLAIZ7AeJ— George Conway (@gtconway3d) January 12, 2020
Where it's not about Christianity, it's about power.
Sorry to be so cynical, but there we are. Most of the churches you've ever heard of are truly not interested in Christianity. How often, for example, do we reflect on the Rev. Dr. King as a Christian leader? Do we remember he had a dream? Or what he said in his letter to churches, from Birmingham Jail? Do we remember he was a principled critic of capitalism and war and power? That he was deeply rooted in a gospel that called people, societies, communities, nations, to change?
Nah. We remember the power he had to change legislatures and get laws passed, and the power that killed him because of the power he wielded. That's what we remember.
It's not about Christianity; it's about power. The churches you hear about, at least, the "church leaders" the media tells you about, are as worldly as that. No more, no less.
