The pressure on GOP Senators is in their primaries. Nothing else matters: not appeals to history, not appeals to high-minded ideals like justice, truth, or the Constitution; not even appeals to ads that can run in the general election. This is the system. It will only work, in these circumstances, when we the people vote. I get e-mails from Beto O'Rourke, who is organizing grassroots campaigning and GOTV efforts for Democratic candidates at every level (Texas elects a LOT of public officials). I think he's on the right track.
And that is what we are supposed to lean on. Not politicians; but us.
Yeah, I know: we are totally screwed. But these are the conditions that prevail.
