If it were that easy...

That scheme always sounds clever; but it seldom works out.

I "joined" an informal campaign to defeat Dan Patrick in the primaries. It didn't come close to working. And I gave up my shot to vote for other Democratic candidates. No primary is just for one office; not in the South, at least, where we practically elect the courthouse janitors. If there are any other candidates on the SC GOP ballot, don't expect this plan to be popular among them.

After all, the primaries may be "open," but you can only vote in one. Primary voters tend to be the most motivated party voters. Trump decries Democrats every chance he gets. How many GOP primary voters are so anxious to vote in the "other" primary, the "enemy's" primary, for a Pyhrric victory?

I don't think Republicans are the enemy, the way Trump speaks of Democrats. But I still get GOP campaign mail because of that wasted primary vote. That do gate. And I still regret wasting a whole primary.
