I don't know the goal, but the New Victorianism is getting a bit old.
"Credible sexual assault allegations"? Why, because they have been made, and complaint filed with the D.C. police 27 years after the alleged incident? There's a reason for statutes of limitations, and it's to negate stale charges like this that probably can't be proven because no reliable evidence exists (and no, the statement of any victim is not sufficient or reliable to obtain a criminal conviction).
"A pattern of unwanted touching" When I was a child, I hated adults hugging me and pinching my cheeks, and so on. Hated it. It was "unwanted touching," and I've never done it to a child since reaching adulthood myself. Some people like to make physical contact; some of us don't like it. It doesn't rise to the level of the tort of assault, however, and it isn't the same thing as grabbing someone's ass or, as our current President said, by the genitalia. "Unwanted touching" can be anything from what Trump said he did, to shaking hands. Truly. There are some people I couldn't break the clasp with fast enough. I lived through it. Again, New Victorianism, where a woman's reputation had to be spared any indignity, and "unwanted touching" WAS the same thing as assault, or near as dammit. These are not serious complaints, this is whinging. The next in the list proves that for the entire list.
"Burisma." Might as well say "Benghazi!," too.
The last in the list is a kind of racist appeal: black people were fooled by Biden's stories and his 8 years as Obama's VP, but really it's the stories that hoodwinked 'em! It's not a very subtle jab at African American voters in the Democratic primaries; not really.
Maybe Bernie didn't raise these for very good reasons, primary among them being beating Donald Trump.
The Bernie or Busters are a real danger and they are being encouraged by the play-lefty media, much of it flowing out of the Air America crowd, some of it from the small-circulation lefty mags, some out of Hollywood and movie idiots like Michael Moore. Biden wasn't my first choice but I am hoping Democrats win decisively without the help of the play left and this time instead of being nice to them they get kicked out definitively and permanently. They have done nothing but enable Republicans for the past fifty-two years.
ReplyDeleteI just looked up Gray's CV, she writes for The Intercept, which to me means she's a Putin asset. And she's heavily involved with the typical bunch, Sam Seder, Michael Brooks, Krystal Ball etc. They are Putin assets, paid or not, aware or not.
