Mayday! Mayday! M'aider!
The news I'm reading makes me more pessimistic and I wasn't any little ray of sunshine before. I'm beginning to hear more informed people grimly predicting it will be years. And that's if it doesn't mutate into something worse, which is always possible. I wonder if this might turn out to be something like the more contagious form of HIV that some epidemiologists warned was a possibility back in the 1980s, in the early days of that pandemic that has hardly ended. Though, as others warned at the time, there is no guarantee that a. a vaccine or b. effective treatments will be found. And all because some rich people wanted to eat an exotic animal. At least in this case.
