TRUMP: "So many people have died. That's the one thing we can't do anything about, unfortunately. What I can say is if we did it the different way -- if we went 'herd,' if we just said 'let's wing it' -- we would've been talking about numbers that would've been unsustainable." pic.twitter.com/4HZpqLdMJT— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) May 8, 2020
"Unsustainable" is not a word that should be used in this context. 50,000 dead in Vietnam was "unsustainable," and that took almost 15 years.
The total number of cases reported in Spain, France, Germany, Russia, UK, and Italy, combined, is 1,183, 465 as of today. The total number of cases in the US alone? Over 1.2 million. We have more deaths than any country on the planet, by a factor of at least 2. A "more believeable lie" would be nice at this point. You'd think he'd at least pick a more believable lie, but here we are. https://t.co/0t9ZMe25wg— Cameron Peters (@jcameronpeters) May 8, 2020
And let me add that S Korea’s Protestant evangelicals - who are pretty hard core and frequently pro-Trump - also cooperated with the lock-down. The mega-churches here have not fought the restrictions despite nearly identical theology to US evangelicals.— Robert E Kelly (@Robert_E_Kelly) May 8, 2020
I don't think the world is following this example, either.
Just another of seemingly tons of examples of Trump gross incompetence harming our health.— Neera Tanden (@neeratanden) May 8, 2020
